The poetry of Gillian Clarke

I have been a fan of the poetry of Gillian Clarke since first studying her work in secondary school. It felt like a way in to poetry for me personally as I can relate to the subjects she writes about… here is her website for future reference…

Gillian Clarke uses a lot of imagery in her work which is rich in references to interactions with our environment and each other, her poems are often personal and everyone could relate to them. She describes ordinary human acts like cleaning and lighting a fire as well as giving insights into life on her small holding. Her work is a joy to illustrate due to these reasons and I am enjoying illustrating her work.
